Reading to children"The reading class Chii was supposed to help with was held in the Talking Room at the end of the children's corner. In the children's corner, there were not only picture books and books for children, but small tables and chairs, a play room, and a bathroom for children too.
The bookshelves were low enough for the children to reach the books. The children could choose a book, bring it to a table, sit down on a chair and read it. In the room they could lie down on the floor, take off their shoes and play with picture cards and picture books made of cloth. It looked fun. "Ah, it's Chii" "It's Chii" The children noticed Chii and Taku, and gathered around them. An older boy and girl that do the reading with Chii were there too. "Hello. Today my cousin, Taku, came with me." "Hello, Taku. Nice to meet you" "Hello", said Taku cheerfully. And everyone soon became friends. "We've been waiting for you Chii. Let's start the reading right away", said the boy. Chii entered the Talking Room with the children. You have to take off your shoes before entering the Talking Room. Chii got out of the wheelchair with the help of a boy volunteer. A girl volunteer folded up the wheelchair quickly. |
