Radiation Monitoring in
● Survey meter measurement of radiation levels (from July 25, 2011)
In Hokkaido tourist spots, radiation levels are normal.
We are confident that you will be able to enjoy the trip to Hokkaido just like the same as before.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Hokkaido.
※Measurement is conducted monthly.
※Radiation levels are measured at one meter high from the ground.
(Unit: μGy/h [microgray per hour])

【Note】
1. µ (micro) means the parts per million. m (milli) means the parts per thousand.
2. Radiation levels are measured in nGy/h (nano-Gray per hour). 1 nGy/h is equivalent to 0.001 µGy/h.
3. Sv (sievert) is the unit you often hear in the news. This indicates the energy amount absorbed from radiation
into a person’s body. In such an emergency circumstance, it is reasonable to think 1 Sv = 1Gy.
4. Radiation levels may temporarily increase on rainy days, because rain contains a little amount of
natural radioactive substance.
